Round 7—the final battle—of the D1 Grand Prix Series 2008 was held at the Fuji Speedway in Shizuoka Prefecture on October 25 and 26. Yoichi Imamura of Team BOSS with POTENZA D-1, who finished Round 6 in second place and was hoping to become the come-from-beyond champion of the Series, ended his first round with 100 points (158kph), bringing him to sixth place, and into direct confrontation with the top of the best-eight, Daigo Saito. In the showdown for the championship, it was Saito who powered to a victory, coming in sixth for second overall in the Series. Masato Kawabata of TEAM TOYO with GP SPORTS took third, for sixth place in the Series ranking.

In the tsuiso tournament, the heavy competition meant that fully six of the 16 cars competing were forced to retire because of mechanical troubles, but the cars of both Kawabata and Imamura kept on fighting over and over to the end, and while the championship may have slipped away, this gave outstanding proof of the machines’ reliability and durability.
