Round 5 of the D1 Grand Prix Series 2008 was held at the Autopolis in Oita Prefecture on August 2 and 3. Driver Ken Nomura of Team BLITZ, who has held onto second place since the season opener, was in 15th place after the qualifying with 99.8 points, then won the tsuiso tournament through a combination of speed and cornering and moved into the finals. Although, unfortunately, he was defeated in the final, he still came out in second place. Masato Kawabata of TEAM TOYO with GP SPORTS, who has been showing a strong rhythm recently, took third place. Yoichi Imamura of Team BOSS with POTENZA D-1 Project has moved in third place in the series, and, with two more rounds remaining is being mentioned as the possible series champion.

Round 6 of the D1 Grand Prix Series will be held on August 30 and 31 at the Ebisu Circuit, Fukushima Prefecture.
