Yoshinori Koguchi, team KOGUCHI POWER take first win in D1 Grand Prix 2008 Series.
In the second race of the D1 Grand Prix 2008 Series, held at Fuji Speedway in Shizuoka Prefecture on April 26 and 27, Yoshinori, team KOGUCHI POWER—which finished the 2007 season with a strong ninth place ranking—ended the qualify in ninth place with 99.9 points, then came through in the tsuiso tournament to overtake the top four drivers and move into the finals. Koguchi went as far as the rematch stage, but in the first round came into contact with the other car, after which it seemed unlike that the car would be able to drive; however, his points from the previous tsuiso stood and he took first place.
Chikara Mizuhata of team HPI took third place, with a qualify round 100 points at 183 kph, while Nobuteru Taniguchi of team HKS, winner of the very first D1 Grand Prix Series in 2001 was in the top 16 and ended in seventh place.
