1995年、スカイラインGT-R（BCNR33型）を使った日産とNISMO（ニッサン・モータースポーツ・インターナショナル）による「ルマン・チャレンジ3年計画」が始まりました。
搭載されるRB26DETTエンジン（2,568cc 直列6気筒DOHCツインターボ）は2,795ccへと排気量が拡大され、600ps以上を発生しました。
この23号車は、1996年に参戦した長谷見／星野／鈴木組のNISMO GT-R LMで、総合15位・クラス10位の戦績を残しています。
ちなみに、このプロジェクトはNISMOを軸に組織された国内の熱心な日産ファンクラブ「クラブ ル・マン」の支援で実現しました。

In 1995, Nissan and NISMO (Nissan Motorsports International) launched a "three-year Le Mans Challenge project" using the Skyline GT-R (BCNR33).
The RB26DETT engine installed in the car—a 2,568 cc inline six‑cylinder DOHC twin‑turbo—was enlarged to 2,795 cc, producing over 600 ps.
This No.23 car is the NISMO GT‑R LM driven by Hasemi, Hoshino, and Suzuki in the 1996 race, where it finished 15th overall and 10th in its class.
Incidentally, the project was made possible with support from “Club Le Mans,” an enthusiastic Japan‑based Nissan fan club organized around NISMO.
