GT L.S.D. Pro Carbon now available

Nissan Motorsports International Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Minami-Oi, Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo, President: Yuichi Sanada, "NISMO") will launch "GT L.S.D. Pro Carbon" on April 21st.

GT L.S.D. Pro Carbon is a new type of L.S.D. in which the basic structure of GT L.S.D. Pro is unchanged. For the friction disc surface in L.S.D., it adopts the carbon fiber cloth material specially developed for wet clutches. Having high lubricating ability and good μ-V characteristics resistant to changes in temperature, the carbon material suppresses stick slip* thereby improving drive performance and driving stability. It is designed not to easily cause variations in the L.S.D. operating characteristics due to the wear condition of tires and changes in road conditions or the differentially rotating speed difference of tires.



In addition to the lubricity of the carbon material itself, the oil permeating into the carbon fiber allows this product to prevent oil film breakdown, compared with the previous steel plate product, and reduces chattering noise that is peculiar to a mechanical L.S.D.
The carbon material for wet clutches is totally impervious to attacks on the L.S.D. body, peripheral parts and oil that is caused by sludge produced from wear on the carbon facing, thus ensuring high durability. The life of L.S.D. oil can also be controlled in the same manner as the previous GT L.S.D. series that used steel plates; you can use this product with an easy mind in the same way as the previous products.

GT L.S.D. Pro Carbon produces a high traction through ideal operation of L.S.D. in a circuit run where high grip force is always required whatever the tire or road conditions. This product also does not produce more L.S.D. effect than necessary while normally driving on general roads with a bad road environment. Therefore, it significantly reduces chattering noise compared with a general mechanical L.S.D.

* Testing has already confirmed that there are no attacks on the L.S.D. body, peripheral parts and oil, caused by sludge produced due to wear of the carbon facing.
* There are 5 friction discs on one side making for a total of 10 pieces on the right and left sides, the same as GT L.S.D. Pro. The carbon fiber cloth material is adopted only for friction discs (10 pieces on both sides). (The friction plate is made of steel.)
* Stick slip: A phenomenon where the plate is not completely locked but repeatedly slips and locks in cycles.

< Initial torque is set at 6 kgf•m >
GT L.S.D. Pro Carbon has uniquely designed wear characteristics for the carbon facing. It is designed to be stable at an initial torque of 6 kgf•m, which is the best L.S.D. operating area in a circuit grip run with the GT L.S.D. series. Furthermore, with the select position set at LOW (approx. 8 kgf•m*) when delivered, you can maintain the initial torque by switching it to MIDDLE or HIGH without disassembling the L.S.D. body even when the initial torque drops below 6 kgf•m.
* Using the carbon facing, designed to target an initial torque of 6 kgf•m, the initial torque drops to 6 kgf•m and is stabilized in a run of about 100 km even if it is used at MIDDLE (approx. 11 kgf•m) or HIGH (approx. 17.5 kgf•m). Since the initial torque is designed to be stabilized at 6 kgf•m in all select positions, please note that increasing the initial torque more than necessary will result in excessive wear and accelerate the consumption of L.S.D.

GT L.S.D. Pro Carbon provides a kit containing L.S.D. engine oil, a side flange, an oil seal, a gasket, a side bearing and a ring gear bolt necessary for installation on a vehicle. (The contents of the kit vary depending on the vehicle on which the product is to be installed.) You can install this product on your vehicle just by purchasing GT L.S.D. Pro Carbon without any additional parts.
