At the sixth round of the D1 Grand Prix 2008 Series, held on August 30 and 31 at the Ebisu Circuit in Fukushima Prefecture, Yoichi Imamura of Team BOSS with POTENZA AD-1 Project ended the first round at eight place, with 99.85 points. That put him into the top eight qualifiers, and into competition with Series leader Daigo Saito—but, with some amazing driving, he won and moved ahead to the semifinals. While he was ultimately defeated by a very narrow margin, his performance was one that brought thunderous applause from the audience. This result moves him into second place in the Series ranking, and in potential position to be the come-from-behind champion for 2008.
