- Be sure to install the correct L.S.D. for the particular vehicle.
- Check to make sure that the car's motor and transaxle numbers have not been changed before placing your order.
- In principle, no special machining or other tasks are required for installation (for all race vehicles with JAF numbers and conforming to N1 race regulations).
- Except where noted, please use standard installation, genuine Nissan ring gear bolts and side flanges.
- When installing the L.S.D., it is suggested that the ring gear bolt, side bearing, oil seals and gaskets be replaced with new items. Please use attached instllation kit when they pertained together.
- Cornering characteristics will change dramatically after L.S.D. installation; please take careful note before operating the vehicle.
- After instllation, pleas take break-in driving 500km to 600km at a moderate speed by city or winding road driving (for street legal vehicles) in order to accustom the each parts and plates. The differential oil should be changed immediately after break-in is compkied (at least 200 to 300 kilometers).
- NISMO L.S.D. with a high initial torque setting (high lock ratio) will transmit chattering noise through the drive wheels or differential when cornering on high μ road surfaces. To help eliminate this noise and to prevent deterioration of the plates, please use NISMO COMPETITION OIL type 2189E(75W140) (Rear L.S.D. use; part no. KLD75-RS411).
- When the plates have worn and the L.S.D. function deteriorates, replace the discs with new units in the overhaul disc kit and adjust to the standard initial torque. However, deterioration of the differential case and pressure ring may prevent adjustment to the standard initial torque.
- Setting the initial torque well above the standard value can increase the chances of damage to the powertrain and make handling difficult; standard initial torque should be used for all vehicles operating on public roads.
- When increasing the initial torque for competitive vehicles, substitute spring discs and plates for the friction discs and plates. Therefore, the total number of plates will not change, but with the change of plate thickness, use only one adjustment-use plate on one side to set initial torque (clearance) (for more details, please see Repair Parts).
