One-piece model

In general, two-piece rotors are more likely to suffer from weakening of the joint area due to rust, failure through deterioration over time and a disparity of heat strength between the mount-bell joint area and other parts, resulting in cracks. To avoid the problems of two-piece rotors, the NISMO Sports Brake Rotor has been created as a maintenance free one-piece type that allows for easy handling in city driving and low noise and vibrations.

The one-piece structure of the NISMO Sports Brake Rotor has resulted in a weight reduction of more than 16%, compared to the genuine NISSAN part (the lightest among genuine size rotors for the GT-R). Reducing the bottom weight of the spring has resulted in improved road holding performance and ride feel.

 

High rigidity

The NISMO Sports Brake Rotor uses the newly developed Special FC150 material. The shape of the original NISMO rib (the internal ventilation fins) and of the rotor hat installation section helps provide superior uniformity of heat conduction during braking. Uniform heat conduction is closely related to the ability to radiate heat, so that even in severe use the brakes perform stably. A very high level of rigidity also means that there is very little deterioration or distortion of the rotor. The NISMO Sports Brake Rotor has the high strength needed to disperse the forces placed upon it. It provides excellent durability, with a structure and materials which can uniformly distribute heat energy, overcoming one of the weaknesses of one-piece rotors-heat fatigue-and provide the same performance as a two-piece.

* While the CV cast iron used in some manufacturers' products is strong, it has poor heat radiation properties and suffers more from heat deformation than does FC cast iron: in conditions where the loads will vary greatly-such as when driving in normal conditions, then in sports driving, then back to normal driving-CV brake rotors can easily warp, causing brake judder.

Excellent Durability

In repeated high-speed testing *1, the rotor has proven its excellent durability. Compared to genuine products and the rotors of other manufacturers, it has outstanding heat-resistance properties.

*1 Durability testing included repeated cycles of heavy braking from high speed to rotor cooling, using the NISMO R-tune brake pad.
